Why do you love fantasy romance?
Lana: There’s something about leaving the reality we face and jumping into another world. I think it all started for me when I was a teenager, and not in love with my life. I might be showing my age here, but back then, there was no internet or iphone I could just hop onto and feel connected. So I would open a book and leave all my troubles behind. Even if I was experiencing someone else’s troubles, I got to feel like I could overcome anything. And the falling in love part… who doesn’t want to experience that? It’s the best feeling in the world. I write fantasy romance now so hopefully I can give that feeling to others.
Shona: I love reading about other worlds and magic.
Favorite otherworldly being and why?
Lana: Anything with super-powers is my favorite being. Which, in fact, covers a lot. From witches, to superheroes, you’ll find I mainly write about those with something extraordinary about them. Whether these powers were thrust on them, whether they were born with them, it doesn’t matter to me. What does matter is how they deal with the responsibility. In all my worlds, people are not created equally, and I like exploring how this imbalance affects people.
But if we’re talking specifics, and who do I swoon over… probably the wolf shifters. Just like the ones I write in my Fae Guardians series. Something about primal instincts gets me excited! And vampires. Okay, I’m having trouble choosing again. Lol.
Shona: I like vampires and the fae, both of which are long lived and magical… I clearly have a type.
Why will readers fall in love with your anthology story?
Lana: Because the hero and heroine are best friends, and it’s going to be a bittersweet story about how usually we’re the hardest on ourselves. The female character, Anise, lives in a world where most wolf-shifters can actually shift. But she never got that trait. Instead, she’s stuck with her tail and wolfier than usual ears. Caraway, her friend and Guardian, is a shifter, but he comes from a family of pacifists. And he’s not the kind of shifter you’ll normally associate with viscous. But for Anise, he would do anything.Even follow her across the realm on a fool’s errand to see a witch about her secret shame. Readers are going to love how this stubborn couple finally get to their HEA.
Shona: Wolf Blood is a forbidden romance between a werewolf and a vampire who really doesn’t like being a vampire. There is a twist in my vampire/werewolf lore.
